iSeries Systems Leader
Job Summary: Responsible for iBM Power Systems Enterprise Resource Platform (ERP) environment, which includes system design, up-time, monitoring, and security of hardware, internal applications, and 3
rd bolt-on party services and software
Essential Job Duties:
- Support all aspects of iSeries related hardware and system software.
- Analyze/design/develop/support new applications
- Configure/manage/upgrade 3rd party applications
- Configure and monitor mirrored applications and systems (Disaster Recovery/High Availability)
- Configure and monitor all aspects of iSeries systems communications
- Support our internal development teams and user community thru clear processes and protocols
- Actively involved with troubleshooting; work with programmers to resolve application issues
- Triage tickets; assign work as needed for troubleshooting and system enhancements
- Work with vendors to establish and maintain service contracts and relationships
Basic Qualifications
Education & Experience:
- A bachelor's degree in information technology, computer science, or a related field
- 5 plus years experience working on the iSeries platform
- Programming in RPGLE/CL
- Inter-systems communication protocols
- Working Knowledge of IBM Client Access and i-Client Access
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Possess experience and an appetite for working with all aspects of I.T. systems (hardware, software, security, network, infrastructure, telecommunications, Internet)
- Have experience in leading projects and small teams to goal accomplishment against deadlines
Preferred Qualifications:
- Problem-solving skills in a complex Management Information Systems (MIS) environment
- Excellent written communication skills
- Ability to execute hands-on tasks while coordinating and delegating additional tasks
- Strong interpersonal communication and teamwork skills; ability to relate information in technical and layman’s terms to diverse audiences
- High degree of curiosity about new technologies
- Ability to adapt to an evolving environment
